Notes on Transition: September’s Shifting Light
September always carries a bit of that back-to-school feeling—a quiet invitation to begin again. With the light changing and the days folding toward autumn, something in me begins to search: for a new form of expression, a different palette, a shift in rhythm.
This time of year often marks a turning point in my creative process. It’s when I long for coherence and consistency—but don’t always find it. Practice doesn’t always move in clean, continuous lines (even if I wish it did). Instead, it unfolds in threads.
Some of these threads right now: returning to acrylic spreads, and noticing how photography begins to call again. It’s not one clear path, but maybe it doesn’t have to be. Maybe this season is more about layering, circling, listening for what wants to emerge next.
A gem from the past returning, and the simplicity of working through some thoughts with coloured paper and post-its.
